The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time-
In 2016 I was lucky enough to watch the Curious Incident of the dog in the night time and for me it was a game changing piece of modern theatre. I feel it still has revolutionary as when it began. Mental health is becoming more of a prevalent subject. The piece is not only extremely relevant for mental health awareness but also is visually extremely incredible to watch. Even if you aren’t a theatre lover the visuals will draw you in. the production is incredibly strong and is hailed for its innovative design and unfortunately in my opinion blows other west end productions out of the water. Paule Constables lighting and Bunny Christies set really helps us get into the world of Christopher. However, I feel that Christies visions were innovative and the stand of feature of the performance. Her scenography combined with Finn Ross’s video design was a game changer! One minute I would feel that I was in the class room and then I was in a rural town to being in the London Underground! The simple use of digital technology can seriously transport an audience from place to place realistically which I personally think is breath-taking.
I loved the great deal of physical theatre. It was visually interesting to watch and to me that made it a great performance. Luke Treadway who played Christopher portrayed hiss character to a brilliant and convincing standard. The most beautiful and effective moment was when he finally allowed his father to touch him, touching palm to palm. The most effective part of physical theatre for me was when bodies on the stage created obstacles for Christopher to get to his destination.
People who aren’t interested in in theatre but love technology and are visuals lovers should what the show for the shear wow factor of the set, lighting and digital imagery.
