Trapped Masterlist // Dean Winchester Masterlist
“Fuck, can you smell that?” Dean asks, holding his arm over his nose. And it’s not because the smell is unpleasant, per se, more that he could really do without going into a rut right now.
“That’s not just one, that’s several,” Sam points out. Not that Dean needed telling, the mixture of scents and heats is intoxicating, no matter how hard he tries to breathe into his jacket.
“Sonofabitch, don’t these freaks know what suppressants are?!”
“Maybe that’s what they do... You know, don’t take suppressants to lure Alphas in, and then feed off of them,” Sam offers. Dean can’t deny that’s fucking clever. But as they round the corner and get closer to the source of the nest, Dean clocks the cages with girls inside, most of them groaning in pain, sweating and begging for Alphas.
“On second thoughts, maybe the vamps are even worse than we thought,” Dean mutters.
One quick sweep with his eyes around the place and Dean can’t spot any vamps, only the human Omegas in cages, and as soon as they step into the room, all eyes are on them, and the begging and pleading only gets louder.
“How do we get them out?” Sam asks.
“Fucked if I know,” Dean grunts. His head is getting woozy, and he’s not sure how much longer he’ll last without being triggered into a rut. Before they can start looking for keys, a door opens down the hall and both brothers turn to look at the entrance, instinctively splitting up to guard either side of it.
“Why did you fucking pick the feisty one?” They hear echo down the hall.
“Get off me you sonofabitch,” Dean hears in response. He’s holding the machete, but the new scent he can smell is overpowering every other one of his senses.
“Don’t worry, it won’t be so brave when we finally get those suppressants out of its system.” But even with the suppressants, the Omega’s scent is still overpowering, and Dean can’t think about anything else.
Dean can just about make out Sam frowning over at him through his hazy vision, and he mouths something that Dean can’t make out. He instinctively just wants to step out and make himself known so he can see the Omega. The other Omegas are going crazy, but they’re the last thing on Dean’s mind right now. Sam reacts quicker than Dean, slicing the head off of the one vamp gripping the Omega’s arm, while the other on Dean’s side notices him and reveals his extra teeth. Dean’s knee jerk reaction should be to chop the blood sucker’s head off, but it’s not. His knee jerk reaction is simply… mine. The vamp’s head rolls to the floor regardless, and Dean soon realises that Sam had acted quick enough for both of them. The Omega that had been in the vamps’ grasp shrugs themself free and glares at Sam.
“I had it,” they grunt.
“You’re welcome,” Sam scoffs.
“No thanks to you,” the Omega turns and glares at Dean. Dean’s thrown off for a second that the Omega isn’t having the same very natural reaction that he’s having. Can’t they tell that he’s their true mate?
“This nest was mine, assholes. There were seven of them, you know.”
“Well you looked like you needed the help with the last two,” Sam explains.
“I didn’t,” they insist through gritted teeth. Dean watches the Omega – his Omega – bend down and retrieve a set of keys from the dead vamp’s pocket, heading over to a desk in the corner of the room. Inside is a drawer full of different suppressant bottles, and Sam takes his cue to help hand them out to the caged Omegas, who are nearly feral with heats.
“You gonna help or just stare at me like a freaking idiot?” The Omega asks, thrusting some bottles against Dean’s chest.
“I’m Dean,” he splutters out. The Omega straightens up, sighing heavily.
“Andy,” they reply after a moment. Dean smiles softly at the sound of their name.
“You can feel it too, right?” he checks.
“Feel what?” they blink. Dean scoffs, feeling a little awkward to be saying it outloud.
“We’re urm… you’re my… Omega,” he finishes.
Andy’s face sets a little harder this time, those walls they’d only just started letting down back up immediately.
“Listen here, Dean. I’m not your Omega, I’m not anyone’s Omega. I’m not an Omega, got it?” Dean frowns slightly, because now he’s confused. He can smell that they’re an Omega, so that just doesn’t add up. He nods regardless, not wanting to upset them further, and clears his throat, setting about helping the other Omegas in their cages to take the suppressants and calm down before they can release them.
“You two should probably leave, they’re jacked up on suppressants, but they’re still probably gonna try and rip you two apart. There’s another exit, I’m gonna take them that way, find them shelter until they’re out of their heats,” Andy explains. Sam and Dean look at each other and nod their heads.
“Can we help in any way?” Sam offers.
“Meet me at the bar across the road tomorrow evening, you can help me figure out how to get these girls home.”
Andy’s eyes linger on Dean for a moment, and a small smile graces their lips before Dean feels Sam’s hand on his shoulder pulling him backwards. Dean begrudgingly follows, but only because he doesn’t want to get mauled to death by a pack of Omegas in heat, and because he knows he’ll be seeing Andy again tomorrow night. His head is still in a bit of a daze though, even as Andy’s scent leaves his senses, and he and Sam get back outside away from the chaos. Dean glances back towards the entrance. Even if Andy apparently isn’t an Omega – which Dean is sure they are – they’re still his. Somehow he just knows it.
“Dude, what is going on with you?” Sam frowns, leading them to the Impala. Dean sighs, and he doesn’t want to sound like a teenage girl, but he can’t exactly ignore this.
“Sammy… I’m in love,” Dean grins. He expects more of a reaction than what he gets from his brother though, who just cocks an eyebrow and throws himself into the passenger seat of the car. Dean quickly follows. “Did you hear me?” Dean checks.

< Part Four // Trapped Masterlist // Dean Winchester Masterlist
Rowena is two days late, which only makes both Dean and Andy even more anxious about the spell. While Sam isn’t an expert on spells, and nowhere near as capable in the casting department, Dean still makes Sam check it over a few times before Rowena’s arrival. Sam picks it apart each time, and finds no reason why the spell won’t work or might be dangerous, which does put both Dean and Andy’s minds at ease. Rowena might not be their best friend right now, but she’s also not their enemy, so Dean realises they need to just take a leap of faith.
“Dean?” Sam calls down the hallway that morning.
“Yeah?” Dean glances over his shoulder to see Sam jogging to catch up.
“I thought I’d do one final check on the spell, and I found something you might want to know,” Sam explains carefully. “Where’s Andy?”
“They’re showering. What is it? Will Andy be okay?” Dean checks immediately.
“I mean, yeah, but…” Sam huffs slightly and then licks his lips. “Dean, casting the spell and converting Andy to a Beta will break your biological bond. They’ll no longer be your true mate.” Dean sighs heavily, clearing his throat and nodding.
“I know,” he confesses quietly. “Rowena told me. But Andy doesn’t know, and I want to keep it that way.”
Sam frowns, “Dean, you have to tell them.”
“If I tell Andy, they won’t go through with it, and they’re going to be trapped in a body that isn’t theirs the rest of their life. I don’t want that for them.”
“If they do go through with it, Dean, you’ll lose your mate. I’ve never seen you happier than when you’re with Andy. What if they leave when the bond breaks?”
Dean grits his teeth, he doesn’t want to think about it. He’s actively tried to forget about it since Rowena told him. He’s just tried to soak up every second he’s got with Andy before they’re gone.
“I’ve made peace with that. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make to make them happy,” Dean insists.
“Dean, you can’t keep this from them,” Sam warns him.
“I can, and I will. This is Andy’s only true shot at being who they want to be.” Dean walks away, afraid he’ll start crying if he looks at his brother any longer.
“Don’t be the hero here, Dean,” Sam calls after him, but Dean turns the corner and carries on walking.
Andy is finishing dressing when Dean enters the bedroom, and Sam’s words are still echoing around in his head.
“Hey you, we should talk before we meet Rowena,” Dean tells them softly, digging his hands into his pockets.
“Okay. I’m so nervous,” Andy admits, letting out a breath. “But I’m excited too, you know? It just feels right. I’ve waited my whole life for this, to feel like myself, and I’m finally going to be me.” Dean’s never seen Andy smile so widely, and he can’t help but smile back, loving seeing them that content.
“Everything okay? What do you want to talk about?” Andy checks, walking over to Dean and digging their hands into the back pockets of his jeans. Dean can’t bring himself to tell them. He doesn’t want to risk them not going through with this. And what if, deep down, Andy is only really here because of their bond? What if without it, Andy would’ve never fell for Dean? Does that make it real love?
“I just wanted to tell you how gorgeous and funny and sexy you are,” Dean smirks, trying to lighten the mood. Andy frowns suspiciously, a smirk spreading over their lips. “And how you better not get too big for your new Beta boots and wanna be an Alpha next, there’s only room for one Alpha in this relationship.” Andy shoves him and Dean laughs.
“I think my strap under the bed would disagree with you,” Andy smirks, straightening Dean’s shirt collar. Dean blushes.
“But seriously, I just want you to know that no matter what, I love you. I love you for exactly who you are, and today isn’t going to change you, because you’ve always been this person. And that’s the person I love. These past several months have been the best of my life, and I just am so proud of you. I’ll always be here for you, no matter what.”
Andy sniffles, “Dean, I’m only transitioning, I’m not dying.”
“I know… I just wanted you to know. You can never tell someone too often how much they mean to you.”
“I love you too,” Andy smiles, kissing Dean softly. Dean closes his eyes and tells himself to remember this moment, because it might be the last one like it that he gets. When Andy pulls back, they smile and step away, reaching up to brush some tears away.
“Alright, let’s get you to Rowena, it’s about time you stopped overdosing on suppressants.”
Dean can tell that Sam isn’t impressed that Andy still doesn’t know about the bond breaking, but luckily, he doesn’t say anything. Dean knows that Sam understands where his place is, and it’s not telling Andy the truth. That was Dean’s, and maybe he did fuck it up, but ultimately, Andy is going to be happier this way. He watches carefully as Rowena lays Andy down on the bed and then moves to her bowl of ingredients, chanting the spell softly under her breath as she adds what she needs into the bowl. Andy seems to remain calm, and Dean tries to appear it too, not wanting to freak Andy out at all, but on the inside, he can barely breathe. Nothing is completely safe, there’s a chance this could go wrong, and even if it does go right, he’s about to lose his true mate.
Andy’s scent gets stronger, and Dean holds onto it for as long as possible, trying to memorise it exactly, so he can remember it in years to come. He just wishes he could bottle it. He closes his eyes, fighting with his Alpha instincts to rip Andy from the bed and refuse to let his Omega be taken from him in this way. He loves Andy more than anything, and this is what will make them happy. And making them happy is ultimately what Dean wants, no matter what that means for him. The scent dies in the air, and Dean takes a deep breath, desperately searching for it for a moment or two, before opening his eyes. There’s an eerie silence as Rowena stops the spell, and no one moves, or apparently even breathes for a few seconds. Not until Andy moves, sitting up slowly.
Dean beams instantly, relieved that they’re okay and that nothing bad happened to them, and he wants to rush over and hold them, but the thing that would normally stop him from second guessing doing something like that isn’t there, and he hesitates. It’s a strange feeling at first. As he looks at Andy, he doesn’t know with absolute certainty that they are his. He doesn’t look at them and hear his head scream mine. But, his heart isn’t any less full with the love he has for them, and he still knows he’d make any kind of sacrifice to make them happy. And that’s still love, right? He still loves them, with everything he’s got.
Andy’s eyes lock with his, and they just stare at each other for a moment. A small frown tugs at Andy’s brow, and Dean’s suddenly convinced that they’re looking at him and wondering what the hell they ever saw in him. Their stare is broken when Sam rushes over to Andy and checks on them.
“I’m fine,” Andy reassures him quietly. “Just a little tired.”
“Are you sure? Do you need anything?”
“Maybe some water?” Sam nods, and heads over to the jug to fill a glass and bring it to them. Rowena excuses herself to Dean, but he’s too busy watching Andy carefully to respond. Sam glances between the two of them.
“I’m gonna talk to Rowena outside,” he explains awkwardly, before leaving them alone.
There’s an awkward silence between the two of them that Dean’s never experienced before, and he doesn’t like it.
“Are you okay?” he finally asks.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Andy asks quietly. Dean wants to lie and pretend he didn’t know, but they’ve clearly figured it out for themselves.
“You wouldn’t have gone through with it if I had,” he replies honestly.
“That should’ve been my call to make.”
“I’m sorry, I just wanted you to be happy, and I didn’t want to trap you here with me, or in a body that wasn’t yours. I know you hated being an Omega and I know you hated that you had an Alpha as a true mate reminding you of that, and I didn’t want that for you.”
Andy stands up slowly, walking towards Dean, and Dean notices tears slowly trickling down their cheeks.
“So you let me do this, knowing there was a chance that what we had would be gone?”
“I did it for you, Andy. You can be angry if you want, I get it. But I would do it again.” Andy lets a tiny smile grace their lips, and Dean feels just a little better that they don’t completely hate him.
“Dean… having you was the only good thing about being an Omega,” they confess, reaching up to hold his face in their hands. “I was never trapped with you. Regardless of our bond, I chose you.” Dean swallows, wondering if he’s understanding what Andy is saying.
“So… even without the bond…” he prompts, frowning slightly, hoping he’s not reading too much into this.
“I still choose you,” Andy confirms, before kissing him passionately. Dean kisses back, holding them closer still.
“Good, because I want to be stuck with you forever, with or without the bond.”
