Hey, I just wanted to ask a some questions about your NPLQ! I was wondering if you paid for the course yourself or got funding from an employer? If the former, why did you decide to do it? I'm thinking of taking the course myself but it would be hard for a number of reasons. Just wondering what your perspective is to help me decide if it's worth it. Thank you!
Helloo - i actually paid for the course myself, without getting funding from an employer. If you’re in a position to get funding from a prospective employer then I’d def advise you go for that, and save yourself the money though. I paid for it out of my own pocket because my reasons for doing it were only in part because of prospective jobs etc, but also because it’s just something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m involved in a lot of ‘watersports’, i sail with tall ships, was really involved in my uni’s surf club, and swim regularly, so in my head it just seemed to make sense. I really like learning in general (massive nerd here) and the idea of acquiring all the skills involved in being a lifeguard just seemed really appealing to me, and I appreciate having those skills still now. In my case, after passing my NPLQ I didn’t apply for any lifeguard jobs due to personal circumstances at the time, and i moved to italy shortly after. I have been thinking of getting back into it now I’m back in the UK and have finished uni, we’ll see. I don’t know if this is at all helpful so if you have any other questions feel free to ask and I’ll try my best to answer better! xx
(i hope you don’t mind me posting this publicly, just in case anyone else is interested)
