In any transformative journey, there are two critical roles. One is the mentor who prepares and guides you on the path, and the second is the friend(s) who understands your weirdness and is always there to celebrate you inspite of your success or failure. Beth Mount has been both in my journey as an artist. She is my friend and a mentor. She was there when I landed in the Social Arts group in a remote corner of the MIT building at the Presencing Institute Global Forum in 2010. That meeting started my journey of “reclaiming the inner artist” with Beth. Every time I traveled to New York to apprentice with Arawana, I would first stay at Beth’s house. Her house (like her presence) is a portal to the mythical realm of artists. Here, she read the first draft of my first book and encouraged me to go out in the world.
