oh! another thing i neglected to mention in my posts about a hypothetical s5 is that there is absolutely an episode where beth goes on “vacation” to cabo as a front for what she’s actually doing in cabo, which is of course some sort of crime-related thing that i do not care to figure out the details to right now. the important thing is that phoebe also happens to be there and instantly knows beth is up to something and a cat-and-mouse game ensues.
there are fruity cocktails with umbrellas and some genuine drunken bonding but at the end of the day beth is still a criminal and phoebe is still, well, phoebe, so they’re definitely still trying to out-smart and out-play each other. (beth wins this round because of course she does.)
at the end of the trip, when they’re at the airport about to go their separate ways to their respective terminals, beth says, “see you next year?” and phoebe can’t help the smile that blooms on her face. she nods. it’s not exactly what you think of when you hear ‘annual girls’ trip to cabo’ but it’s theirs.
