Former Irving mayor Beth Van Duyne, who is running for the seat vacated by retiring Rep. Kenny Marchant, R-Coppell, appeared Thursday on Fox & Friends with three other congressional candidates — Jessica Taylor of Alabama, Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota and Nancy Mace of South Carolina. The group declared themselves the Republican answer to the Democratic women in Congress known as the “squad” — Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Ohio. “We really do have a Congress that is run by extremists, and it’s dangerous for America because they’re not doing anything,” Van Duyne said during the segment.
