I love to read. Trips to the public library and the local bookstore were regular activities when I was a kid, and while I love the convenience of my Kindle, there's still nothing like cracking the spine on an actual, new book - or grabbing a well-worn favorite and watching the pages cascade open.
In fourth grade, I was the only student in my class to earn membership in The Century Club - the recognition bestowed upon those students who read and wrote brief reports on more than 100 books during the school year. Now, I have a stack of books on my bedside table that lose out to short reads on my iPad and imminent sleep on just about every night.
Because I can't seem to make any headway on that stack of new books, I'm thinking it might be time to keep my iPad out of the bedroom and revisit some of my old, old favorites. It may be the only way to get me back in Century Club form. The Betsy-Tacy series were some of my favorites.
