💛STUDIO BRIEF #10 - Repeat Pattern in Illustrator💛
||Week 11||
The final studio task! Woohoo!
For this week’s studio brief, we were instructed to create and document a repeat pattern in Illustrator that fits with our beverage brand. After watching this in the tutorial I figured this would probably come in very handy as I wanted to incorporate patterns into my label.
I had quite a bit of fun with this and ended up spending a bit of time coming up with some funny little characters.
MY PATTERN
EXPERIMENTATION
VISUAL DIRECTION #1
Some more in-depth experimentation of specific fonts, label ideas, symbols, images, etc. from last week! Liking the direction it is headed so far.
VISUAL DIRECTION #2
I will admit I did this one very quickly and roughly for the purposes of having something to support my ideas in my pitch presentation because I had already sketched up some nice ideas for my first direction (see above). But the overall ideas - illustrative background, minimalistic logo, etc. - are presented, so there you go.
Week 1: Branding yays and nays
Fail 1
the label almost completely blends with the product
the little colour (in comparison to other products) does not catch the consumer’s attention.
Win 1
the brightly coloured label instantly grabs attention
the trademark font makes the product easily recognisable and memorable
the simple label doesn't overload consumer with information
Fail 2
there is almost nothing on the label that suggests this product is a healthier option, which is likely to be the main selling point
The bottle lid VERY obviously does not match the label at all & is a really random colour
the colours used on the label are visually unappealing & unlikely to grab a consumers’ eye
Win 2
the glass bottle immediately suggests an eco-friendly & organic product
the colours used on the label are fresh contributing to an organic vibe thus complimenting the product
the modern elements (such as fonts & art) draws interest from a modern market
