So this is what Beverly Cormican is doing for her administrative position? Posing as a patient for students in the upcoming School of Health Professions?

Really, BJU? We’ve wondered what she’s been up to. 

Remember Where in the World is Dr. Cormican? Surely you can find more for your administrators to do, BJU, than rent bounce houses, sit in ball pits, and pose for photo shoots?

This is the 1% increase that made Pettit gush about the “Year of Ups.” The total number of undergraduates -- full-time and part-time -- is up from 2016-17. It’s up from 2566: one percent.

Here’s the problem.

Those are the part-time students. Look at the raw numbers:

So BJU’s Beverly Cormican has found 37 more part-time students. These are students who are staying at home and taking an online class or local high school students taking a now-regionally-accredited-and-thus-transferrable class. 

Yes, BJU hopes that these students will turn into full-time enrolled students. But for now, this does not really indicate a turn-around in enrollment.

Beverly Cormican is in charge of the “post-traditional and dual enrollment” students. Remember her? They did finally announce her after being goaded for months.

But still -- what does this mean again? 

“Post-traditional” is defined as older students who are not typically considered college-aged. These are usually part-time students. So BJU’s part-time students have increased.

And the dual enrollment students are those home schoolers or BJA students who are taking a 100-level class while they are still in high school. One example of this might be Maddi Runkles. Remember her? 

So the previous percentage of part-time undergraduates has been 10% of the grand total. The 2016-17 school year, in fact, had the largest percentage of part-time undergraduates since WutBJU has collected enrollment totals. 252 part-time undergraduates were enrolled in the 2016-17 school year.

And Pettit, if he is to be believed, says that number has increased 27% to what has to be 320.

This single sentence might be a clue to the whole justification for Pettit’s announcement.

He’s explaining why Beverly Cormican and Sam Horn are necessary hires and nothing more.

So living 3 hours from campus and attending a church out of the Greenville orbit (but still fully in the BJU network) must make it hard to Vice Provost. 

Dr. Cormican has only been announced in the confidential faculty meetings. Randy Page of BJU Public Relations has not announced her administrative status. 

Go look. 

Why? Why are they hiding a credentialed expert in higher education under a bushel?
