"⠀you're making this a bigger deal than it is.⠀"⠀&⠀maybe it speaks to oliver's true feelings on the matter that he can't quite meet olivia's eyes, his own gaze carefully downcast to the half-packed suitcase that lays open on his bed, but he'd be damned to let his mask slip now.⠀"⠀she wants space, i'm giving it to her. i don't get what the problem is, liv.⠀"
“... do i know you ?” comes out louder than she means for it to; it’s meant to be polite, surely, but it gets lost somewhere between the unsettling feeling of being watched and her desire to get a cup of coffee in peace. speaking of — she takes a sip just then, letting the bitter taste coat her mouth ( it’s the taste of maybe having spent too much on a cup of coffee rather than an actual meal, but any way the wind blows, she supposes ). “— sorry,” she hastens to backtrack slightly, if only to not come off as entirely rude. “just — with how you’ve been staring at me, seems like you might’ve mistaken me for someone else you've met before.”

nicola: why the fuck are men so fucking stupid
he’s lying on both of them, kind of: gangly legs sprawled out against juyeon’s own, his head, meanwhile, finds purchase in sujin’s lap, brows furrowed deeply as he stares at the tape playing on the latter’s tv albeit without much interest — or attention. “they’re never late to movie night.” he frowns. he’s not an idiot — he knows why, evinced by how clover averts his gaze whenever he waves at her from across the lawn with vera in tow, why no one has scheduled a get together at clover’s store in weeks — but of all things to maintain, he’d always assumed movie night would be sacred. alas; all he’s left with now are the two boys he’s made a human sofa ( and the feelings in his chest that simmer at that thought, but he chooses to ignore those — whatever the girls are going through is difficult enough ). “have you seen this movie before ?” he peers up at sujin through his eyelashes, small smile across his lips as his hand reaches up to feed him a hot chip. “i didn’t really want to watch this, but clover insisted so i got it from the blockbuster on 27th — and now she’s not even here …” almost as quickly as it arises, the smile dissipates; with his free hand, he reaches for the nearest object he can find ( one of his old stuffed toys ), throwing it with poor aim at juyeon’s shoulder ( god, he used to be an athlete ). “what did you say to her anyway, meanie ? i mentioned you and she got all upset ! you have to stop doing that !” even if you are right — kind of.
the soft tinkling of the chimes at the door and the brief gust of wind that blows in tell clover that the door’s been opened as she’s in the stockroom. she’d shoo whoever’s behind it away at this point — especially since the door is locked after all, it being thirty minutes past closing — but the feeling in her gut, wound up and queasy, demands to be felt ( she’d only given the key to her shop to one other person ). her hands steady against a shelf of charms in the backroom, gaze zeroing in on the pink heart of her bracelet. everyone in their group had one in a different color; she’d made it for them the night before the shop opened. she hasn’t been around them in a while, and the loneliness in that demands to be felt, too. but she can’t bring herself to — she sees her enough when she shuts her eyes, anyway, and that’s an ache that demands to be felt most of all. but she can’t avoid it — avoid her — forever, try as she might ( she does consider the back door as an option, but even sujin would look at her a little disappointedly if she went down that path ). so she takes a deep breath, making her way back to the front of the store — and yet, even then, her best friend’s doe eyes remain subject to her evasion ( she’s brave, but not that brave ). “we’re closed right now.” she mumbles, busying herself with the register. there's a cordial smile there, but it doesn't meet her eyes. “but that one necklace you’d wanted will come in tomorrow, and juyeon’ll swing by for it, so …”
