WIP Word Game!!

Rules: You will be given a word. Then you share an excerpt from your wip(s) that starts with each letter of your word! The word I was given: BRANCH

B But the blush that rose to Ludmila's cheeks and look that came to her eyes made Marya's regret dissipate. A hunger that made Marya think if Ludmila wished to eat her whole, she would let her. Thank her for it, even.

R Rows of vines hung overtop the courtyard, letting the stars peak through. The air was balmy, thick around them. It was late summer but the [place] remained warm almost year round and was infamous for its humidity. Marya did not bother with the heat, she was normally always cold. But sometimes, when she visited the city, the humidity felt suffocating. A As her luck was, Marya was already at the helm charting their route for the day. “Mila? Good morning!”

Mila could hear the surprise in her tone, which she supposed she deserved to receive. Despite it, she felt hurt to be thought of as late or absent given how much she desperately wanted to learn everything she could.

“Morning,” she sat at the desk and placed her coffee in front of herself, gripping both hands around the mug. Looking at Marya, she could see her fighting herself over commenting on Ludmila’s earliness. “I couldn’t sleep well,” she supplied. N Now, with sixteen years of life in the skies, she could see that. But at Mila's age, she was blind to the expanse of time she had waiting for her. Everything felt urgent, the feeling compiled by Comfrey's need to move on to new and better things continuously. She had watched her mentor's hunger for progress and decided she would embody it. Marya made progress at a rate that had always elicited reactions of amazement and praise. She had fed off of them, confirmation that she was right and good. At thirty two, she still was not able to shake the drive programmed into her. She always performed at her best, worked too long and intensely on her projects and neglected parts of herself outside of her work. C “C’mon love, it’s true. I wouldn’t tell you anything different. Sailor’s honour,” Van brought her hand to her temple, saluting.

The gesture managed to pull a laugh from Mila. She finished off her drink. “I want to apologise to her. Do you think she will come, tonight?” She looked at Van, hopefully.

“M’not sure. I wouldn’t reckon so. We’ll probably see her back on the ship,” Van admitted.

Mila nodded.

H "Hey, this is what being thirty is like, you will understand soon enough," she said.

"I thought you were thirty two?" Ludmila smirked.

Marya's face fell in mock exasperation, "The thanks I get for showing you around!” Tagging a bunch cause this was fun!
