Rant about Shipping and Fanfiction

Okay so, the whole 'zalfie' situation that's going on at the moment made me actually write this post but this has been bugging me for a while.

I personally don't have an issue with anybody else's ships (I don't really understand some and I find incest ships a little strange but hey, if you wanna ship that, that's fine, I'm not going to stop you, you're entitled to ship whatever the fuck you want) but keep it to yourself and your fandom. Post fanfiction on tumblr and fanfiction sites but don't shove it in the people you're shipping's faces. 

Imagine you had a friend and your entire friendship group kept saying things like "you two should date", "you obviously like each other", "you two would make a great couple". You would get annoyed, I definitely would. Now imagine if you liked them and they liked you, that would make your relationship incredibly awkward and you'd both feel incredibly under pressure due to your friends constant comments. That is exactly how 'public figures' must feel when you thrust your fanfiction and ships in their face. It's just inappropriate and a complete invasion of their personal lives.

Things like this are what lead celebrities to dislike fanfiction and 'fangirls' and to be honest, it just gives fandoms as a whole a bad name. If two people are together and they don't want to tell the whole world, that's their decision. 

I understand that some celebrities don't mind the whole shipping and fanfiction thing but a lot of them do. They're just normal people and, like I pointed out earlier, you'd probably get annoyed if people kept telling you that you should be with someone, so obviously they will too.

Also, I know that not every fan is like this, in fact it's a small minority that's ruining it for the majority but I wanted my two cents out there because me and Beckie were talking about the 'zalfie' situation and we both got a little annoyed.
