Cafe Rue Dix- So let me tell you, I have a list of some of my favorite restaurants in NY. I’m a huge foodie, and extremely picky 😬 I am really into ambience, good food, and great service. Without a shadow of a doubt @caferuedix knows how to bring it! The owners are the sweetest and own a shop next door, called @marcheruedix . You could even your nails done in the shop 💅🏾 I mean, what’s not to love? 😅 Aside from this, what captivates me most is the decor. Rich in Senegalese culture, the music and vibes make you feel as though you are actually in Senegal. Lol Serving authentic Senegalese fare, you will enjoy almost any meal you have there- even if it is mashed potatoes (I would know...it is really good). However, I must say that something that surely knocked me out of the park was their prized Senegalese coffee: Touba I don’t even drink coffee but this stuff was such a powerful dose of caffeine. It tasted heavenly, but I was up all night ! Lol If you are in the Crown Heights area in Brooklyn, this place is a must! It’s worth seeing just for the experience alone. | #beyondeden 🌺 (at Cafe Rue Dix) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFLYQDnlbvv/?igshid=ry3vk5pb6awl
Everyday during this entire quarantine this face wakes up, sits on my chest, and looks me right in the eyes...for food. 😂 Her all time favorite thing to do is to keep me from always doing work. I can’t tell you how many times she’s has picked up her paw, and closed my lap top 🤦🏾♀️ ******************************************* I have been deep into writing ✍🏾 recently. Just another pass time I’ve really enjoyed. I was really sinking into our new normal and loving it. Then all of a sudden...50 million emails from school 😩 I just started my last semester of didactics, and as much as I’m dreading it, I just have to get through it. It’s about to be a crazy intense 10 weeks. You guys will excuse me if you don’t see me a lot. I’ll still be popping in. ❤️ |#beyondeden 🌺 (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAbn_acpz4h/?igshid=12qeo4tzpj285
Note to self...never take a selfie with a kangaroo. 🦘 It just...won’t work 🤦🏾♀️ #aussietimes | #beyondeden 🌺 (at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAOnjjDJk2x/?igshid=1etwdwyn4jjdb
Natural living- 🌿 I’ve always been of the mindset that if you nourish and cater to your body and mind properly, you will see results both internally and externally. .................................................................. Lately I have been picking up on some old practices I used to do religiously, like oil pulling, and dry skin brushing. These practices have so many benefits including exfoliation, better oral hygiene, and improving the lymphatic system. I’ve even been coupling this with increased water intake. Waterholic over here 💦 Not to mention I’ve been making good use of my aloe vera leaves, flax seeds, castor oil...you name it. Now is the perfect time to start exploring those natural living and healing remedies guys. 😊 |#beyondeden 🌺 (at Kalky's Kalk Bay) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAJft4AJxy4/?igshid=1duokxli46izb

Quarantine life- I must say, that I really am enjoying it. I’ve been working on a number of projects the past few days. Some are things I haven’t explored in years. I’ve been really learning to sharpen some skills, like writing, photography, and even music. Artistry, is not something one should ever take for granted. Some folks are blessed with these gifts beyond imaginable. Whether it’s how you hit perfectly pitched notes singing a capella, or capture the perfect image in just one shot, it all takes skills. You have to do it over and over again, till you learn how to finesse it. I have a great respect for artists of all forms. It takes guts to hone your skills and share them with the world. I remember walking along the beaches of Zanzibar and met this fabulous photographer from Japan, @onthestreet_yukosuzuki . We spent the whole day together taking pics and exploring. She captured some amazing shots for me, including this one. Seriously, imagine a world without the artist. What would we see, discuss, explore, and question? Life would be pretty lackluster. I hear wonderful things are happening in TASAAGA Village ❤️. My god, time just flies. I was there on my second medical mission trip. I remember clear as day, when we visited several of the schools in some of the most rural and impoverished areas in there. This village was just starting a water project so that these children and their families could have access to clean water- which at the time they had none. This had to be one of the hardest but most beautiful trips for me. For the first time I understand what it was like to have no access to bare essentials...like water. This trip showed me the power of education and lengths that young people will go to obtain it, even without adequate supplies, likes books, pencils, etc. and yet, the work STILL got done. 🌺 You barely see me in this pic, but I had been speaking to these students. How the little faces brightened up when they saw my face. Never seen kids so proud and so elated. I think it was partly because, I looked like them. Never felt so adored for doing something just...human. | #beyondeden 🌺 (at Uganda) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_xBEaJFm64/?igshid=7lxtbdhrgdty
