The Universe is listening….
A Chinese medicine doctor told me recently that adding certain spices to my diet could help my digestion, especially as I replenish after a one month dieta in the amazon rainforest and extensive international travels. So I began adding some golden mylk spice blend to my daily kakao. I was loving it. So much so that I was starting to wish that I could offer something like this on the kakao website for people to add to their own cacao. After running out of my blend while on Kauai, I was looking everywhere for more, but to no avail. At this point all of my friends knew I was looking because I couldn’t stop talking about it. For some odd reason, I couldn’t find anything in any store on Kauai. Then one morning I opened an email from a woman named Kenzie (extra cool bc my birth name is Makenzie) in Guatemala. She is a part of a regenerative center in the Guatemala jungle, working in conjunction with native farmers and the Q’eqchi tribe to cultivate and share local ingredients beyond fair trade. Kenzie asked if we could set up a meeting to discuss a potential alliance for my non profit. While on the video meeting, we formed an instant connection and sistership. She starts telling me about this new golden mylk spice blend they have that is made with ingredients grown entirely by native indigenous farmers on the land there. Tumeric, cardamom, ginger, black pepper and cinnamon. My jaw was on the floor. The universe clearly had been listening….
Fast forward one month (exactly). I am sitting here home on Maui on this lunar eclipse full moon day, sipping on some Chuncho with the new golden spice blend. It’s soooo yummy, I’m in love with it. And it is now officially up on the website for the kakao community to partake in. I’m planning my next Guatemala trip as we speak for the Spring to deepen into this exciting alliance. Cacao from that region coming soon ;)
