Hello,have an excerpt
As I’m waiting to publish my novel, I’ll leave an excerpt for everyone to check out :)
This is an excerpt of the first half of the Prologue.
The nauseating scent of blood overwhelmed her senses. Devastation tore at her soul. Another home—another family—gone, accompanied by another lesson in the fleeting nature of life. Silence sat like judgment over her failures, its accusation stifling as she forced herself to lurch through the ruins. This time it wasn’t just their home. It was the town itself. Bodies lay strewn about, in piles of twisted limbs. Young, old, men, women—the destruction was indiscriminate. Coming closer to the center with each dragging step, Kalamai’s weight shifted suddenly backward, landing her on her rear as she took in the carnage. The house was in shambles, streaks of dark purple, almost black, sludge coating its wooden skeleton. While someone killed the town, Quelia had focused on their target. The lack of familiar bodies around the house begged Kalamai to search the ruins. However, despite the temptation, Kalamai was not foolish enough to expose herself. There were no survivors here. Her best plan would be to turn away from this catastrophe. Yet, Kalamai hesitated. With each soul-crushing disappointment, this game she played wore away at her determination. A part of her simply wanted to admit defeat, turn tail, and damn them all to the pits. Standing amidst this fresh graveyard, the thought of running away had never been so enticing. Shame followed her musings, and Kalamai sighed as she stood up and trudged away. Giving in to despair was not an option. But neither was saving the dead. They were damned by sins beyond their control. Besides, her earlier concerns rapidly proved true: a flicker of movement caught her gaze. In his excitement, the second culprit made himself known as Falvin’s sentry skirted into the shadows. Kalamai kept her head down, playing her part well as she hurried back to the construct, keeping Falvin within her peripheral vision. The gagna hadn’t even realized her discovery, and since he was heading toward the outskirts, there was no doubt where they planned their ambush. At least she had enough strength to make the jump without the construct. Thank the triads, they were predictable. Stay tune for more!
