I shared this post by @logandhowardcpa on other social media earlier this week, not knowing how prescient it would be for me. For those that have not heard, as of Tuesday, December 10, I am no longer employed by @fatherjoes. Even though my circumstances are different, the moral of the story is still the same: we are all replaceable. The extra work and long hours were not enough, but I’m looking forward to my unexpected vacation time, relaxing, and spending time with family and friends. On the way late freight, but while I was in LA for @uclaalumni Day last month, I decided to stop by @themarathonclothing store. I’m not sure if someone is tracking the amount of daily visitors, and I am sure there were an increased number of folks since it was a Sunday. But it’s a reminder to support the “@nipseyhussle”s of San Diego and give them their props while they are living. [Long post, tl;dr version: happy 100th birthday to @ucla and happy 20 years of being @uclaalumni to me!) 25 years ago, I had the honor of receiving several "big envelopes" from various colleges and universities, but I was most excited to receive one in particular: @ucla. I did what my AVID teacher, Mrs. Soriano, my counselor Mrs. Behnke, and several other trusted adults/mentors advised me to do, and applied to several other schools. But I knew that if I received that acceptance from UCLA, it would be a wrap! And 20 years ago, next month I made that transition from student to alumni. On Saturday, I attended Alumni Day on campus, which also included the the kickoff to UCLA’s centennial. I also used this occasion as my own 20-year anniversary celebration. Personally and professionally I’m not where I thought I would be 20 years after college.
