As the Creative Director of the magazine, I have to admit this issue is "hot". The front cover features @kiki_charlieb_ , shot by our Lead Photographer: Hank Pegeron @hpegeron . Beyond Your Frame Magazine is a fairly young/ new fashion magazine within this fashion industry. Our main objective is to become one of the leading fashion magazines in the industry featuring unique concepts, fashions and editorial themes. Ergo, the name Beyond Your Frame. We encourage all local, national and international models, designers, photographers, artists, makeup artists, and entrepreneurs to "think outside the box". KUUMBA (koo-OOM-bah) Creativity To do as much as we can in our community to make it better and more beautiful than when we inherited it. The world is changing, but not necessarily for the better. The past few years we have seen an increase in a number of catastrophic events around the world that indicate we need to do better. There has been a dramatic increase in racial tensions, religious bias, climate change, economic turmoil, social injustices, political conflicts and global wars. Community is defined as 1. a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common 2. a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests and goals. I see this world as one great big "community " with various groups of people in the same place. Yet sadly, there is no fellowshiping with others with whom we share a common attitudes, interests and goals. That being to make this world a better place in which we can all live. With so much diversity among people, religions, cultures and political beliefs, one would think there would be a lot of creative minds sitting down together to come up with a common solution to the global crisis that exist. One major crisis of concern for many is the rise in racial tensions. Today I heard where Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adam's has come up with a rather creative idea to help bring people of different races, religions, cultures together.... He is sponsoring 10 dinners/summits for people to sit down together, to talk and share their cultures , religious beliefs...etc That is 10 summit discussions, each with 10 young people...... Peace and Blessings Family. ・・・ KWANZAA: Day 3 Habari Gani UJIMA (oo-jee-MAH) [Work and responsibility]. To build and maintain our communities; and solve our problems together by taking ownership of each other problems. On this the 3rd day of Kwanzaa, I am reminded of the scripture in Genesis where Cain after killing his brother is confronted by the voice of God and God asks Cain where is Abel, what have you done? I am also reminded of the old African adage that says " It takes a village to raise a child." In 1966, Dr. Karenga introduced Kwanzaa to America, at a time when our communities were being torn apart by race riots. But in the wake of those riots we were literally killing our own communities, our brothers with looting, and robbing for our own community stores. Television news broadcasted scenes of people running from burnt out stores carrying whatever they could..... food, furniture, appliances, electronics. Only to awaken the next day with no place to shop in their own neighborhoods. Also in the aftermath of the riots, there was a lot of finger pointing and laying blame. In order for any of that to happen we first had to become " our brother's keeper" by being responsible to and for each other and our part in killing our own communities. Second, we/ they had to learn to work together to rebuild what they themselves had ravaged and destroyed. We need to go back to taking responsibility for one another and work to build and maintain our communities so that we thrive, and future generations can live. This was for yesterday. Happy Kwanzaa Family. KWANZAA: Day 2 HABARI GANI KUJICHAGULIA ( koo-jee-cha-goo-Lee-yah). To difine who we are by naming, thinking, speaking and creating for ourselves. Kwanzaa meaning "first fruits" in Swahili is an empowerment celebration of Pan-African and African-American families, communities and cultures. Kwanzaa is a Pan-African holiday that does not compete with Christmas or any other religious holiday celebration. So if Kwanzaa originated in ancient African civilization, how [when] did it begin in America? .......................................................................... Dr. Mualana Karenga, a black nationalist, who later became a college professor, introduced Kwanzaa to America, in 1966, as a way of uniting & empowering African-American communities in the wake of the aftermath of the deadly Watts riots.
