Happy Pride Month
Growing up in a small town made coming to turns with my sexuality difficult. I didn't have resources or local people to look up. Very few people were out. The first family member I ever came out to was my Popa and it was because of him I found role models to look up to. You see I was scared to come out to him and my Nana the most, but I had to do it. He was being treated for cancer but was allowed home for Christmas 2010. Sitting there on my aunt's couch I told him something along the lines "I have something to tell you...I'm gay" he was watching tv and looked at me and said "did you just figure that out?" Obviously my family knew, everyone did, but it was a weight lifted. What we were watching though was The Road to 2012 London Summer Olympics, a show about the athletes hopefully going to the Olympics. Of course who was on at the exact moment I came out? Well the Canadian Women's Soccer Team. I started following them and their journeys which led me to the amazing world of women athletes especially soccer players and that led me to LGBTQ+ athletes. Athletes like @erinmcleod1 @meltancredi14 @dmatheson8 @c_sinc12 gave me women role models to model my life after...however I did not know whether they were out or not as it still wasn't huge to be out as an athlete and not okay to make an assumption. But they gave me an outlet, something to watch, look forward too and to laugh. Over time when my life hit low points or I feared my sexuality would be hated I watched videos and followed their lives. Time goes on and some of these athletes came out and boom it boosted my confidence. Now it's athletes like @magdalenaeriksson16 @pharder10 @samanthakerr20 that give rise to inspiration to be ourselves, but to also show that it's okay to be yourself infront of a world that finds criticism at every opportunity. So be yourself, if needed find inspiration where you can. Follow and find inspiration from those that have and are paving the pathway for better LGBTQ+ rights and be apart of the journey as they cannot pave the future themselves. Fight for equal rights and be a person that creates a safe space to yourself ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #beyoubeproud #pride #comingout #findyourinspiration https://www.instagram.com/p/CeZQiCfukXZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
When people ask me why I celebrate pride or why it needs to be celebrated at all. It's because every year there are people who don't get to celebrate it as they believe they are better off dead then getting to be themselves. We as a society need to do better. We need to end bullying and give everyone a safe space where they can turn too. If you need someone to talk to my phone is always on. If you need someone to sit in the closet with you until you are ready I will gladly sit with you and discuss the millions of reasons why I do not like Jenny from The L Word. Once you are ready to come out I'll have confetti cannons and glitter bombs for you...maybe a vacuum too. Let's make this world a safe space by starting small and creating a personal safe space then build up to a safe world! Even if you are an ally, this still pretains to you, I am always here to listen. I would rather hear your story then listen to your eulogy! You matter and this world is a better place with you in it. Love you all ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #beyoubeproud #safespace #betterwithyou #pridemonth #ownit #happypride #comingout #comingoutoverdeath #confetticannons #glitterbombs #happyhappyrainbows #alliesmattertoo #gayallday #queerallyear https://www.instagram.com/p/CeW95TPOy-g/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! Every day I am proud and happy to wake up gay. Looking back though, the journey hasn't always been easy. Coming out to family and friends wasn't the hardest part. It was coming out to myself, because the moment I did, my life would become a lot more difficult. The things I wanted in life, the dreams I was chasing and what I was building my life up for I would have to jump through hoops to get. That's why I support pride events and charities that help with LGBTQ+. Its 2022 and the fact that life is still difficult for those of the LGBTQ+ community makes me sad. Our fight is far from over. It won't be over until we are all equal. We are humans to. For me, people assume me being gay plays a role in how I do things. Let me tell you right now, being gay doesn't make me a better welder or a better athlete. What makes me a better welder and athlete is my determination and willingness to practice and continuing to grow. Being gay is only one part of me, but an important part, a part I will celebrate forever. It takes strength to be who you are in a world full of judgement and people who think they know you better than you know yourself. So be you and show all the haters how you rise above and that their hate can't stop you or even slow you down. BE YOU BE PROUD❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #pridemonth #beyoubeproud #wokeupgayagain #rainbowsandunicorns #plaidismyfavouritecolour https://www.instagram.com/p/CeUnlAZsRNz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
TODAY IS OUR DAY HELL YEA!!!!! SQUAD WHERE YOU AT?!?!?!
REPOST IF YOU BI AND PROUD!!!!SEPTEMBER 23 DAY OF BISEXUALITY!!!! YEA!!!!
I really dislike the word 'perfect'. I mean there are millions trying to be what society deems perfect, constantly changing their hair, body and face to get the approval of others, wasting money on clothing that are 'in' just to do the whole process again once a new trend is set. And its not just our appearance we change but our attitude our opinions, just to fit in with that's going on, what's in at the moment! What really bothers me though is witness people adults and children alike not doing something they enjoy on the off chance someone will comment on how juvenile or uncool that is. For example when was the last time anyone played Kirby or hopscotch? What's wrong with being you? Who cares if your eyebrows are not on point or that your footwear is two years old? If I'm going to spend a small fortune on a outfit you can bet your sweet behind I'm gonna wear that shit more than once. My hair is not too good for the household scissors, and I'll just brush my teeth instead of using chemicals on my teeth cause its a fucking trend! I don't want to be perfect' I'm just trying to survive in a world where it's the norm to tear others down because they don't fit in with you're definition of perfection. And what sickens me the most is I was one of those people who opened my mouth and spewed disgusting belittling comments without thinking and spend far to long in front of a mirror trying to be what society wanted me to be, because I believed if I looked 'perfect' on the outside then maybe I could forget the ugly that was on the inside! But I learned that shit don't work. Don't matter how good your makeup is or how on point you brows are, or the brands you wear, if your mind and heart can't pretty then sweety you ugly. Let's stop trying to be perfect cause there is no such thing. Let's stop tearing others down and instead focus on the reason behind our need to hurt others. Let's sort our priorities out and clean up our fucking act! Let's heal ourselves and each other.
