SVA BFA Computer Art Films screening for ASIFA East

Join us on March 13th and 16th at the SVA 3rd Floor Amphitheater at 209 East 23rd St for the ASIFA East Animated Film Festival! 🤩Congrats to the following films for being accepted into the festival: Don't Talk to Strangers, Runaway Plane, Hirvio, Illuminosity, Gauntlet, The Novice, Spring, A Brunch With Death, and Anatidaephobia! The Festival will conclude the following nights:

3/13 Students 1, SVA 3rd Floor, Amphitheater 3/16 Students 2, SVA 3rd Floor, Amphitheater (Ballot pickup begins at 6:30PM. Screening 7pm SHARP) 3/20 Independent 1, SVA 3rd Floor, Amphitheater 3/22 Independent 2, SVA 3rd Floor, Amphitheater 3/27 Commercial, Music Video, Experimental Category, SVA Room 502 starts at 7:20 PM

ASIFA East is the Eastern U.S. chapter of ASIFA, based in New York City. ASIFA East hosts monthly screenings, drawing class, workshops, and panel discussions on all things animation, and annually hosts the ASIFA East Animated Film Festival. ASIFA as an organization aims to grow world-wide visibility of animation and its members include animation professionals spanning more than 50 countries.

The MystiCon Independent Film Festival is a SciFi film festival run in Roanoke, Virginia each February. The film fest is held during MystiCon, a convention started 2010 with the intention to promote family-friendly traditions of open gaming, and enjoyment of different literature, and arts.

Joel Sevilla graduate of ‘99 nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode for his work on Stranger Things 2 and The Gate.

Acting CAD Chair invited to serve on Council as they unveil Made in NY Animation Project

Acting Computer Art Chair Jimmy Calhoun has been invited by the New York City Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment to serve on the inaugural Animation Industry Council as they begin a new youth initiative.

The Council is spear heading the new Made in NY Animation Project to reach 1,800 young New Yorkers during the coming year. The project offers  experience in storytelling, and computer animation technical skills to help qualify young participants for internships in the field.

Call for Entries to SVA Computer Art Students

THINGS TOOK A TURN is a ladies-only animation anthology that challenges female-identifying creators to push boundaries by flipping familiar narratives.

This year the theme is ONCE UPON A TIME, meaning fairytales and folktales!

Final animations must be between 5 seconds and 2 minutes long.

Deadline is May 31st!
