Photos really could never do the true, striking beauty of these birds justice!
(I wish I had more time/capacity to go through, edit, & make posts of the seemingly endless collection of photos & videos I've amassed over the last nearly 2 decades of fieldwork & other adventures...alas, having to, you know...be a functioning adult, is a constant obstacle interfering with that.)

Not One Of Them You
People, faces, bodies, laces,
Some very shapely,
Some less so gainly.
Smiles on those faces,
From lips thin or voluptuous.
Eyes making contact,
Fleeting and searching,
Twinkling and smiling.
Hair refined, fair, neat and captured;
Deep brown, unfettered, lustrous and wavy,
Swept up behind an ear,
Soft, velvet lobe appearing.
Individual pieces making unique people,
None of them perfect,
None paling the world,
Nor nature’s beauty.
None making my heart leap,
Nor body quiver.
None making my soul smile,
Nor sparking hope for tomorrow.
Not one of them you,
My best friend…..my lover.

Gap is Vast
The gap is vast,
Fingertips stretching to bridge.
The distance between us,
Stomach pit straining to my ribs.
Anticipating separation,
My heart drawn in four quarters.
My eyes closed tightly,
Your gaze melting my eyelids.
My lips dry, cracked, bitten,
Your lips moist, warm, softly enveloping.
My body cold, lonely,
Your finger tips tracing my ribs,
Caressing my back,
Palms drawing me in close,
Touching your bare skin.
Anticipating reunion,
My heart burning,
Lungs deeply filling,
Eyes smiling.
I miss you,
My best friend,
My lover.
