Black Faculty and Staff Association message on Unity
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,
The past couple of weeks have been very emotional and challenging for our nation. All across America, we are trying to make sense of the unspeakable acts of violence and unrest. The Black Faculty Staff Association believes this is a very important time for our campus community to come together in solidary and unity.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the survivors and families who have been directly impacted by the acts of violence. As a community, we must come together in a non-violent manner to honor the memories of those lost and refocus our attention on ending the divisiveness which exists in our country. We are committed to providing a platform for faculty, staff and students to come together to express how they are feeling and to begin the healing process.
During these most difficult times, we are asking faculty, staff and students to join together in our neighborhoods, campus community, faith-based communities and other platforms for reflection and open dialogue. Using the UCF Creed as our guide, we can continue to build bonds and inspire positive change.
Additionally, the Black Faculty and Staff Association will be hosting campus dialogues in the days and weeks to come for the UCF campus. This will be an opportunity for us to stand and act in unity and solidarity. Dates and times will be posted at http://bfsa-ucf.org.
Please join the campus community today, July 13, 2016 for a Candle Light Vigil, Student Union at 7:00 p.m. Additional information will be distributed about other opportunities to come together soon. For more information, please contact [email protected].
