I finally beat Orin earlier today

(Act 3 spoilers) (duh) (also trigger warning for just how fucked up it all is)

And I gotta say.

Nothing quite prepared me for how sad I would feel.

Like, yes, she's psychotic and unstable and all sorts of other problems and things.

But...part of me almost wants to argue that it's not her fault.

(I haven't done durge route yet so I'm sure I don't know all of the bhall business, but even from what I've seen currently)

She was born by a father and daughter, quite possibly even from rape or coercion.

She and her mother were groomed and manipulated every single moment of their lives, convinced that they were solely designed for a greater purpose (while in truth there were not only many Chosen, but none of them were respected or adored in the way they believed themselves to be).

I snuck around before the fight and talked to her mother, which only further proved the above point.

When I confronted her and told her the truth, she cried. She bawled, shrieking with disbelief and heartbreak. Her entire world was crumbling at her feet. Where she believed love existed, in truth there was only betrayal and manipulation and bloodshed.

At the end of the fight, as she fell apart, she was sobbing. I couldn't believe a character like her could be stripped down to something so...human.

All of my companions were saying things like 'good riddance' and 'I hope she suffers' and other such cursing statements, but part of me thinks that in this life, she's suffered plenty. I pitied the beast that caused so much pain, because she was merely a victim of circumstance. And in the end, wasn't that the case for all of us?

Each and every companion in the game, all of them, were made to suffer in some way or another, simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Why should she be blamed for the way she was born?
