Bandsaw Machine & Metalworking - Bharat Bandsaw
In the industrial market, there are two main types of sawing machines: circular saw machines and band saw machines. The circular sawing machine differs from a bandsaw machine in that it uses a circular tool rather than a saw band to perform the sawing procedure, resulting in different processing characteristics.
On the industrial market, two types of sawing machines are generally available: bandsaw machines and circular sawing machines. As opposed to bandsaw machines, circular sawing machines use circular tools instead of saw bands to perform a sawing procedure, resulting in different processing characteristics than bandsaw machines.
In addition to being referred to as a band saw, a bandsaw is also known as a metal cutting bandsaw. The bandsaw blade is composed of a continuous toothed metal belt stretched between two wheels to enable it to cut the targets material.
Applications of bandsaw machines
As well as being used to cut metals and woods, bandsaw machines can also be used to cut a variety of other materials on the market, which are commonly used for metalworking and woodworking. A band saw machine has the advantage of uniform cutting motion due to a uniformly distributed tooth load, and is also capable of cutting irregular or curved shapes similar to a jig saw.
Curve scales
The minimum radius of a curve that can be cut is determined by the width of the saw band and the radius of the curve. Most band saw machines consist of two wheels rotating in the same plane, one of which is powered. Some machines may also distribute three or four loads simultaneously.
Band and blade
The blades of the band saw machines can have a variety of pitches and size ratios, allowing the band saw machine to be highly versatile and capable of cutting a variety of raw materials, including wood, metal, and plastic. As of today, most band saws are powered by electric motors, while line shaft saws were once prevalent on the market.
Development of band sawing
There was a British patent granted to William Newberry in the late 1800s for the invention of band saws, which were the first to appear in the 19th century. At that time, however, band saws were not capable of producing blades that were sufficiently accurate and durable to be used for practical cutting. In the event that the blade is continuously bent on the wheel, material damage can result.
As a result of about 40 years of work, a woman named Anne Paulin Crepin invented a new technology for welding blades into band saws that overcomes the previous obstacles. In 1846, the French inventor applied for a patent on welding technology. Immediately following the patent application, the Parisian manufacturer A. Perin & Company purchased the patent for production.
The patents across the Atlantic Ocean
In 1836, Benjamin Barker, an Ellsworth, Maine, resident, was awarded the first US patent for a bandsaw. Paul Prybil designed and manufactured the first practical bandsaw machine in the United States.
In the metal processing industry, power hacksaws with reciprocating blades were very common and practical prior to the popularity of band sawing techniques. As technology advanced, band saws and cold saws gradually replaced power hacksaws.
In recent years, most band saw machines have been controlled and operated automatically by computer numerical control systems. In addition to the ability to set feed speeds, returns, descents, and have built-in mechanisms for feeding work pieces and fixing parts, automatic band saws also provide automated mechanical functions that enhance production efficiency. It is impractical to assign one operator to each band saw under such automated production conditions. Today, factories prefer to have one operator manage several bandsaw machines in order to achieve maximum cost efficiency.
