Chloé finds the butterfly.

No, quite literally, finds it.

Too clever by half, Cerise needs to stash it to swap into one of her alter egos that has gotten close to the heroes. She's sure she stashed it someplace safe.

Dumb luck flops Chloé into it. Into the butterfly Miraculous, the thing at the heart of it all.

Who wants Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous? For what? With the butterfly she can grant people wishes, just like she did on her ZoO channel.

Find someone hurting and ask 'What would make you happy?' then give it to them.

It still leads to disasters. People having emotional crisis don't often make the best choices. The Guardian still wants the Butterfly back. Battles still happen, but how do you battle someone who isn't looking to fight?

What does Chloé want? Even she doesn't know. Chloé? Who's that? What's that? An image in people's minds, fractured. Line the pieces up and you can almost see...

Then a butterfly flaps its wings.

Audrey Bourgeois can't have a brown haired brown eyed child. 'Ridiculous!' Bleaching hair is easy, infants cry anyways, what's a few more tears?

The real trick is getting colored contacts for a two week old. Medical Necessity? A brown eyed daughter is a medical emergency! Money says so!

By the time school rolls around, it's just a part of routine. The lie is reality and like so much of Chloé's 'reality,' is unassailable. If anything it reinforces how easily she blames others for inherent 'shortcomings' *anything* is mutable, she knows.

It explains her very first words to Zoé:

'So… you're Zoé? Blonde hair, blue eyes… Good, so far you're measuring up to the family standards'

So what changes? Everything. Banished from Paris, even an attempt at an influencer career doesn't impress her mother. Audrey hares off with Noé.

Left behind, with exactly zero people who care... What's the point? Contacts come out, natural color is restored. She can go anywhere she likes. She'd got distant 'handlers' that see she is kept fed/clothed/housed and out of the way.

She can go back to Paris, why not? No one will recognize her. Her disguise is even better than one of Cerise's. No one will know who she is, because not even she knows who she is.

Ballet is a long lost touchstone. It's not a passion or a trajectory, it's simply something that she did once and didn't fail at.

There's more, butterfly related, but this is a baseline.

First Person or Third?

So, thoughts for BHBE AU are bobbling around, but I can't seem to lock down first or third person. I normally do third. I think more people enjoy third, but am I wrong? What do those folks who've been poking these post say?

Do we want first person Chloe, or third which will allow a bit more freedom and knowledge for the viewer?
