I love the way you write Rus and the nickname Gingersnap had me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. What other nicknames do you see him using for his S/O? OwO

waaaaahhhh >.< i'm so glad to hear that you like the way I write him! I feel as though Rus tends towards nicknames probably based around sweets. So aside from gingersnap, I think he might use muffin or even sugar, but I think sweet pea is a possibility as well ^^

First Christmas - Rus (BHC Swapfell Papyrus) x Reader

You hummed along to the christmas music that filled your house, adjusting one of the decorations you’d just placed on the fireplace mantle. Rus had gotten you up earlier than normal this morning, claiming that since it was the first day of December the two of you needed to get the decorations up. You knew what it really was, because he’d been just as excited for Halloween and Thanksgiving for the same reason. This year was the first year you’d be celebrating all of your holidays in your own house together. It made your heart melt to see how eager he was to have these experiences with you and you couldn’t even be mad when he’d dragged you out of bed at seven in the morning.

You turned around and laughed as you saw Rus had somehow gotten himself wrapped up in the tinsel. He smiled at you sheepishly, purple flush coloring his cheekbones.

“I’d ask how you managed that, but honestly I’m not even surprised.” You said, shaking your head fondly as you walked over.

He chuckled, “i dunno, i think this might be the best holiday outfit to date.”

That got another round of laughter from you and did not help in your attempts to untangle your poor boyfriend. After several minutes and almost getting tangled in the tinsel yourself, you finally untangled Rus from the shiny decor.

“How about we do this one together?” You asked, “Maybe I can keep it from trapping you again.”

“well, you know i love to do things with you.” He said, “and uh, yeah, probably a good idea to not get all tangled again.”

The rest of the morning went smoother, with decidedly less of anyone trying to become one with the decorations. You caught Rus in the middle of putting up mistletoe at one point and he’d attempted to explain himself, but you just gave him a quick kiss and went back to your own pile of decor. A few minutes later you’d caught him just staring at you fondly, still in the same position as he had been. You giggled and reminded him he was in the middle of something, pulling him from his content state and flustering him.

By the time you were finished with getting everything put up lunch time had rolled around and so you made a nice, warm lunch for the both of you. Rus insisted on having hot chocolate and you couldn’t bring yourself to say no when he brought out the puppy dog eyes. The two of you sat on the couch as you ate, some random holiday movie playing on the tv.

Rus made a soft, almost thoughtful sounding hum and you looked up at him, arching an eyebrow in a silent question.

“just thinking.” he said, “normally this whole thing would have been more… loud, i guess.”

You nodded, “With all of your cousins and your brother, I bet putting up the decorations was a pretty lively event.”

“lively is one way to describe it.” He chuckled, “i kind of missed it this year.”

He thought for a moment and then leaned down, pressing his teeth to your forehead.

“but i liked this just as much… ya know, just the two of us.” Rus admitted, “it was different, but not in a bad way.”

You wrapped your arms around him and gave him a squeeze, earning a squeak out of the tall skeleton.

“I get it.” You said, “And hey, maybe next year we can at least invite Nox over at least.”

“yeah, that could be nice.” He said, “but i’m glad that this year it’s just us. for this first christmas.”

You nodded in agreement and the two of you slipped into comfortable silence as you sat there. At some point the two of you laid down on the couch, watching whatever holiday specials were playing. The rest of the day was much the same and really, what else could you have asked for, than to spend a relaxing winter day in with your love.
