I think so!

One of my core childhood memories was catching my first shiny Pokemon in the original dimond and pearl gen. Caught an onix in the orebourgh mines, which is a 10 percent chance for the onix and then the 1/8192 for shinys. so that's probably the luckiest thing that's ever happened to me lol
