Jamaica Cultural Centre February 17, 2020. Black History Month Committee chalks up another great event - History Lesson. There were learning, teaching, delicious foods, festival bakes and our three hardworking politicians - Uzoma, Moses and Audrey to share their journey to The Manitoba Parliament. The usual doll making and craft tables engaged both children and adults. Retired Canadian Armed Forces Lieutenant Andre Sheppard enlightened the audience with information about some amazing Black Canadian historical figures and Rhonda Thompson delighted with a beautiful song. It was an enjoyable day spent with old friends, new friends a number of excited children who made festival bakes. Next event is the Gospel Concert at New Beginnings Church at 1107 St marys Road. #bhmwinnipeg2020 #globaleyesmagazine #beatricewatson #globaleyesmagazine (at Winnipeg, Manitoba) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8sFU2KnwBz/?igshid=omluozlrkwbt
Was a busy day at the Winnipeg public library on Munroe street where the family story time was hearing stories by black/African authors. The reading room was packed with little Black boys and girls intensely listening to Sherrod Duncan the main reader and daughter Sharai who recited a poem at the beginning of the program. It was nice to see the excitement and smiles on the faces of participants. Thanks to Sherod and Karon who helped to plan and organize this reading as part of the Black History Program. #bhmwinnipeg2020 #globaleyesmagazinemb #beatricewatson #globaleyesmagazine (at Winnipeg, Manitoba) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8msO6qnx35/?igshid=dzmr6tcvwwzy
