Welcome to the Bi Revolution! Salt Lake Style!
Tonight, the 1 to 5 Club met to discuss topics for our monthly discussion meeting for the year. Over the hour and a half we met, the discussion needs ranged from internalized bi-phobia, concepts of gender, definitions of sexuality, what our "defining issue" could be as a community, health care, legal issues, and so. much. more.
Over the course of the rest of the year, we will be meeting to talk about these topics, and more. We will be having general discussion groups, guest speakers, and of course ... a little bit of Captain Jack. Harkness that is.
On March 24th at 7:30, we will be meeting in the open space at the Utah Pride Center to discuss Health Care. Not just the ACA, but how to break down the stereotypes and stigma in the medical community when it comes to fluid sexuality. We will be talking about sexually transmitted infections (including HIV), safe sex, and are planning to have a health care navigator and doctor on hand to help facilitate the discussions. In April and May, leading up to Pride, our conversations will focus on Visibility and Bi-Erasure - not just in the media, but in our own communities and within ourselves. We hope these discussions, open to everyone of course, not just the bi community, will help to build momentum leading into Pride. And then, our June meeting ... we're totally talking relationships.
These meetings take place the 4th Monday of every month from 7:30-9:00 in the open meeting space at the Pride Center. Remember as well that we have our Peer Support Group on the 2nd Monday, also from 7:30-9:00 in the open space.
