Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Taken on 13/02/2021. There's a little-known yet stand-out itinerary in the province of Novara that I'd highly recommend to art and history lovers out there. It's called 'Itinerari D'Arte nel Novarese' that leads you to remarkable Romanesque churches in historical towns like Romagnano Sesia, Briona, Bellinzago Novarese, Sizzano and Biandrate. There are a few more on the list that are historically significant owing to their 'ricetto' such as Ghemme and Carpignano Sesia. The funny thing about this itinerary was that I came across it while walking through the subway at the train station in Novara rather than, say, at a tourist information office. Swipe through these photos of fascinating frescoes that I took this morning in the 'Collegiata di San Colombano' (Collegiate Church of San Colombano) in Biandrate, about 15km west of Novara. The origins of this church go back to the 12th century at a time when it was incorporated into the walls of 'il Castello dei Conti di Biandrate' ('the Castle of the Counts of Biandrate') whose remains are still visible. The frescoes, possibly the work of Giovanni de Campo, date from the 15th Century and include scenes from 'il Giudizio Universale' ('the Last Judgment') on one section of the wall and symbols of the four Evangelists on the central vault of the atrium. These frescoes were fairly difficult to capture with my Canon camera in poor lighting conditions, so I used my Samsung Galaxy phone instead.
