JACKSON, Miss. | Dem running for Mississippi governor: Help ‘least among us’

JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi’s Democratic attorney general on Wednesday launched his 2019 campaign for governor of one of the poorest states in the nation, citing the biblical mandate to help the needy.

“Jesus taught us to fight for the poor and the elderly and the widows and the children — the least among us,” Jim Hood said in announcing his candidacy in his hometown of Houston, Mississippi.
