I love the solitude necessary to read, and that pre-ritual of feeling the cover, glancing over the contents of a book, feeling the weight of it in your hands, the rustic perfume of paper, the deep dive into someone else’s story, the tattered bindings. What about the moments when you become so absorbed in a novel that you are virtually impenetrable by the outside world? (only last week I missed my train station twice due to reading). Books feel like a remnant from another age (& there’s no worry about battery life!).
