Sackets Harbor Historic Trail
In my efforts to embrace my local resources I have really enjoyed being on the Sackets Harbor Historic Trail. It’s a short walk (and an even shorter drive) from where I live. HENDRICKS COUNTY – The aptly-named Bicentennial Trail connecting the Avon and Brownsburg trail systems was selected as a Legacy Project by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission. It was one of 80 projects around the state recently approved as Legacy Projects honoring the state's 200 years of history and leaving a legacy for future generations. The towns of Avon and Brownsburg are sharing the costs to construct the one-mile trail between County Road 200N in Avon and the B&O Trail in Brownsburg. The B&O Trail runs east and west between the two towns and this additional leg will allow for safe non-motorized travel from Dan Jones Road at US 36 to the B&O. Design is scheduled for 2015 with construction to begin in 2016. The Indiana Bicentennial Commission is charged with overseeing the planning and execution of a statewide celebration for Indiana’s 200th birthday.
