     “Knife fight,” Saren told the woman as they sat at the depot, waiting for train to arrive. She assumed the stranger had been staring at the scar that notched itself into her left eyebrow.

     “Happened while I was on a bounty hunting job in Armadillo. A suspect I had been chasing across the plains ambushed me when I had ‘em cornered outside the saloon.

     “He managed to get me here,” she said, lightly tapping the scar with her finger, “but I still got the job done.”

                    she   will   stand,   still   as   death   itself,   until   she   can   feel   the   warmth   that   radiates   from   soft,   clean   skin   and   the   sweet   breath   of   arthur’s   once   -   lover   as   it   brushes   against   the   crook   of   her   neck   where   gentle   sobs   are   muffled.   she   hesitates   only   a   second   longer   before   letting   her   arms   wind   ‘round   the   other   woman.   “   hey,   hey   now   ----   it’s   ...   alright.   it’ll   be   okay.   ”   a   heavy   weight   settles   in   her   chest   and   seems   to   force   all   the   air   from   her   as   a   hand   shed   of   its   riding   glove   awkwardly   pats   the   space   between   her   shoulder   blades.   “   i   ----   i’m   real   sorry.   ”   ||   @bidinglove
