Le Festival Lux Magna a invité BACKXWASH de se charger de la sélection d'artistes pertinantes Noir·e·s et trans à Montréal. Ce concert est une vitrine de ce que la communauté queer racisée à Montréal vous offre de manière très peu apologétique. Leur art est brut, iel n'est modéré pour personne et iel est aussi radical comme ces interprètes.

Backxwash est une rappeuse trans (iel/elle) de Zambie dont la musique fournit un commentaire social excentrique et agressif. Parmi les sujets abordés, iel mentionne sa négritude et sa sexualité, alors qu'elle s'efforce d'apporter une perspective intersectionnelle au milieu artistique montréalais. Inspiré·e par Missy Elliot et Redman, BACKXWASH est connu·e pour son lyrisme complexe sur des instrumentaux expérimentaux.

La sorcière de la planète Black Starr, BiG SiSSY est une représentation exagérée de la sexualité à l'état brut; gender-fuck, des fesses rebondissantes, une perversion du funk, tout équipé d'un arsenal de musique pop. Les critiques de concerts (VICE, Cult MTL) décrivent BiG SiSSY en pleine performance en train de collecter des fonds du public au nom de réparations pour les descendants d'esclave Noirs, de fessées au bacon cru, d'épilation pubienne et de sang menstruel. C'est une performance, théâtrale et musicale complètement sauté. On est loin de votre concert de Drag plus conventionnel.

blackberryjam est un·e rappeur et poète queer (iel) basé·e à Tio'tia:ke (Montréal) qui écrit sur son identité en tant que Noir·e, la santé mentale et la maladie mentale. Leur premier mixtape emotional est un doux mélange de lyrisme ludique et de sensations lourdes et profondes sans vergogne. Inspiré·e du Hip-Hop Old School, des groovy vibes bien coulées de beurre que l'on peut presque goûter. Iel apporte une expression honnête de la douleur et de la guérison.

La Casa Del Popolo se situe en rez de chaussée. Il y a une rampe d'accès à l'entrée du bar et de la salle de concert afin de permettre l'accès aux personnes en fauteuils roulants. Les toilettes sont de genre neutre et l'une est accessible aux fauteuils roulants.

Lux Magna invited BACKXWASH to curate a show with Montreal's finest Black Trans Artists. It is definitely a showcase of what the QTBIPOC community in Montreal has to offer in a very unapologetic way. Their art is raw, it doesn't sugarcoat it for anyone, and is radical.

Backxwash is a trans rapper (she/her) from Zambia whose music provides an eccentric and aggressive social commentary. Topics include Blackness and queerness, as she strives to bring an intersectional perspective. Inspired by Missy Elliot and Redman, BACKXWASH is known for their complex lyricism on weird instrumentals.

The witch from Black Starr Planet, BiG SiSSY is an over the top portrayal of raw sexuality; a gender-bending, booty bouncing, perversion of funk, fully equipped with an arsenal of pop music. Reports from live shows describe BiG SiSSY collecting audience funds in the name of reparations for the descendants of enslaved Black people, spankings by raw bacon, pubic hair removal and menstrual blood.
