In reality, though, they leave the bigger person feeling unattractive, unhealthy and unhappy. They fail to realise that obesity is not a choice. It’s a complex socioeconomic, psychological and physiological phenomenon. THE ‘F’ WORD . You have such a gorgeous face, if only you were a little thinner!’ Have you ever been told that, or heard someone saying it to you, or someone else? Like it or not, being fat or curvy or big or plus-sized can become complicated at times. In fact, the word ‘fat’ itself evokes a not-so-pleasant feeling. Even public health campaigns meant to prevent obesity go a long way to contribute to that stigma, because the implicit message is that anyone who really wants to — anyone who eats well and exercises regularly — can be thin. If only it was so simple! Bigger woman are potrayed to be undesirable and often showed out to be an object of fun. THE 'F' WORD #STOPJUDINGME Since posting the behind the scenes videos of Soumita and Neha challenging anyone who thinks fat is not beautiful I have received several messages. Some of you think that I am trying to promote obesity in a positive light encouraging an unhealthy lifestyle. Well I would ask you all to hold your guns until the article comes out on 26th April in @indulgekolkata. My aim is to highlight the fact that irrespective of one's body shape, size or colour anyone can look beautiful. I have styled three gorgeous ladies in my sarees and jewellery to showcase their beauty. The fact that they are big will empower other bigger women like them who feel unsure about themselves and I believe when they see these bigger ladies looking lovely they will feel good about themselves too. More so I do hope I will be able to make people who think bigger woman are not attractive look at them differently. The idea of this campaign is not to encourage obesity but to challenge #fatshaming. When I say 'Fat is sexy too!' I don't mean to discourage anyone from being healthy but we do have to realise that all people are fat out of choice things like hormonal imbalance, genetics, stress and many other unavoidable conditions can result in weight gain. Bigger woman need to be looked at and treated exactly in the same way as anyone else. They need to be portrayed in beautiful clothes and jewellery like mainstream models. We need to showcase the desirable side of fat people and that is exactly what I am doing. Look at this gorgeous picture of Soumita @soumita.ganguly.17 , she looks simply beautiful. The fact that she is fat is not something that should be taken into consideration while appreciating her beauty. There will be many more women like Soumita who would be made to feel unattractive, it’s images like this which will give them the confidence to be comfortable in their own body, look beautiful and feel happy.
