Someone has to clean before Xmas (and all year round) and it ain’t me 😂 . In our case with Tere @thaira.music my excuse is that “I’m a sloppy cleaner.” I was told (by her) that I don’t use enough water 💦 💦 (scroll down my wall of older posts to see the video of her cleaning 🧹🧼 100 % cuban (and also African) way while totally flooding the apartment every time - but I have to admit, she leaves it sparkling clean). And I’m totally fine with it this house initiative, because I ❤️ to be excluded at least from this type of house work. I get to do other meaningful stuff - like posting on @havana.diaries for example, because Teresa is the opposite of social media butterfly, which is fine - I have a degree in journalism and writing, and I get a thrill of it, not her. It’s actually crazy how much cleaning there is in 2 bedroom and when you cook it’s even more work! A lot of people have a help or cleaning lady (actually when I lived in Africa @africa.diaries , I noticed that having a house help almost claims your social status - you have little bit of spare money, first thing is that you have a maid and kitchen help). I don’t know how about you, but being #European (from #Slovakia 🇸🇰), it’s not in my DNA to have strangers in my private space because it was not common here. It was your mom or grandma who did the job. (I have worked in Los Angeles at some point of my professional career 😂 also as a cleaning lady to pay for my University bills and I was always amazed how careless can people be. They leave a key, and have no idea who enters your house.) We’ve tried having help in Havana, but both of us working from home, it resulted, that “the help” kept bothering us with questions and I ended up being disturbed every 15 minutes what to do next or going over things and finding them dirty. So we do it ourselves. Tere cleans with water, I organize stuff (because disorder gives her anxiety).But I’m glad not everyone is like me, it creates jobs!!! What about you?
