Big Cork Vineyard: Grand Opening
Saturday, January 31, 2015 marked the exciting grand opening of Big Cork Wine Vineyard located in Rohrersville, MD. Nestled on 100 rolling acres in Maryland’s Pleasant Valley, Big Cork Vineyards features an inviting modern contemporary atmosphere. Although jam packed with visitors eager to taste all of Big Corks delights our group of 4 was able to get right in for a tasting.
The tasting menu featured 11 wines, and each person was allowed to select any 6 to taste. Our wine server was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the wines featured at Big Cork. Of the 6 wines I tasted my favorite was the Russian Kiss; which consisted on Russian varietals, blended with Muscat Canelli, to form a refreshing and mouthwatering embrace. I would highly recommend this white wine enthusiast.
Randy Thompson, the vineyard president made his rounds throughout the venue to introduce himself to guest, and ensure the ultimate Big Cork experience. His charisma added a personal touch to my Big Cork experience.
While at Big Cork I was not able to sample any of the foods on my visit, but they do have an extensive variety of goodies available on site to accompany their fabulous wines. One recommendation would be to extend the inside seating area.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I give Big Cork an 8.9 and would highly recommend this vineyard to wine lovers looking for a unique experience, beautiful scenery, and wines sure to tantalize your taste buds!
