NYC’S PREMIER CREATORS OF SMARTY-PANTS ENTERTAINMENT UNITE ONCE AGAIN FOR THE THIRD ANNUAL BROOKLYN BRAIN JAM: SUNDAY, MARCH 6 AT LITTLEFIELD!
“A festival of fascinating but generally useless information” – The New York Times
“A variety of fun and frivolity but also some depth that isn’t necessarily intrinsic to most festivals around the city.” – The New York Observer
“It’s like a musical festival for your brain. We’re kind of awe in here.”
– Time Out New York
Smart-asses unite! As an incubator of world culture, Brooklyn has no shortage of entertainment and knowledge—in some cases both at the same time. And every year since 2014, several of New York’s top geek-fun institutions—The Big Quiz Thing, Kevin Geeks Out, and Nerd Nite—have joined forces for a tremendous daylong blowout of drinking and mental diversion. Now, the ultimate celebration of cerebral Kings County entertainment returns—supplemented by Comic Book Club, chiptune DJ Kris Keyser, the Unemployed Philosophers Guild, DUB Pies, and more—for the third annual Brooklyn Brain Jam, Sunday, March 6 at Littlefield.
For five hours, friends can come and go as they wish, enjoying a panoply of mind-fortifying diversion. Nerd Nite offers fun yet informative presentations; the Big Quiz Thing (fronted by its founder, Quizmaster Noah Tarnow) leads multiple game-show-style rounds of the city’s leading trivia game; Kevin Geeks Out mesmerizes with absorb pop culture musings (and even a sword-swallowing demonstration)! Adding to the nerdy shenanigans: several segments from funnybook talk show Comic Book Club (comicbookclublive.com); chip tune beats from DJ Kris Keyser (kriskeyser.bandcamp.com); a merch table from one-of-a-kind gift source The Unemployed Philosophers Guild (philosophersguild.com); a “dry T-shirt” contest; the 60-second Pac-Man tournament; prizes and much more. Sweet-and-savory sustenance will be provided right inside the Littlefield venue by DUB Pies, plus Littlefield’s full bar.
Nerd Nite (NerdNite.com) is a monthly event held in more than 75 cities across the globe, with folks giving 18-21-minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines—while the audience drinks along. It’s like the Discovery Channel—with beer.
Since 2002, The Big Quiz Thing (BigQuizThing.com)—founded by America’s premier live quizmaster, Noah Tarnow—has produced its multimedia trivia spectacular for public and corporate clients nationwide. In 2013, the BQT created the world’s first bar-trivia television game show, on the NYC Life network and online.
Kevin Geeks Out (KevinGeeksOut.com) is the creation of Kevin Maher, an Emmy-nominated comedy writer whose work has appeared on Comedy Central, HBO, SyFy, and Nickelodeon. Each installment takes an obsessive look at pop culture, with topics like Shark Cinema, Lady Robots, Pro Wrestling, and Space Operas.
The third annual Brooklyn Brain Jam is Sunday, March 6, at Littlefield, 622 DeGraw St in Brooklyn. The show runs 2–7pm; tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Learn more—and get tickets—at LittlefieldNYC.com. For more info, contact Michelle Jasmine, [email protected].
