Not to jinx myself or anything...but I just wrote 325 words on a new chapter of one of my WIPs.

Not to jinx myself or anything...but I just wrote 325 words on a new chapter of one of my WIPs.
My least favorite part of working on this fic is that I keep having to rewatch Civil War because I repeatedly delete it from my brain afterward and can't remember.
Although I just had a thought - I could change Rhodey's characterization so that it actually makes sense because the Accords are not how international arms agreements/oversight work and he would KNOW THAT.
I will continue to plow through this re-write of Captain America Civil War (aka Iron Man 4 because fuck the Russos) so I can FINALLY FINISH A GODDAMN WIP.
Nearly all of my fics have "anchor" songs. Not necessarily theme songs but...a song that makes me want to work on that particular fic whenever I hear it.
One of my more ambitious fics didn't have one until I discovered this...
I'd only ever heard the remixes before this week but the original has a voice and a sound that gives me chills.
Well, I've come to the realization that I need to watch the Loki series on Disney+ in order to continue working on this fic.
Sigh.
I'd decided not to because I realized that I didn't want to give the MCU a chance to suck me in again (only to burn me again, because you know they will). So I stopped watching the new shows after Moon Knight and haven't bothered with any of the latest movies.
I still don't want to get sucked into the MCU again.
For the fic, I suppose.
On the plus side…re-watching Civil War for this fic means I can write an entire fic of scathing commentary. It’ll be cathartic for me at least.
It’s also going to need a re-watch of The Incredible Hulk because apparently everyone in this movie FORGOT who Thaddeus Ross WAS.
The more I watch this movie, the more WTF it is. Rhodey’s reaction to the Accords is the most unbelievable of all of them, frankly. That just breaks all suspension of disbelief for me. No one will ever sell me on the idea that Rhodey’s reaction makes ANY sense for who that character is. Tony’s at least makes sense for him (in the fact that they always played Tony as primarily a reactionary, emotionally driven character; I. Have. Thoughts about that too but that’s a different rant).
I have beaten this chapter into submission. Or...something. I hate it but I generally hate all of them so that’s business as usual. I’ll give it a few days to marinate and then go over and look for the ever-present screw ups, i.e. you already closed the door, he can’t close it again kind of stuff that’s just inevitable debris of writing.
I have an informal goal of finishing one chapter of something (anything, whatever) a month. Why not pick the year that’s a complete dumpster fire to start making fic writing goals?
Have decided to periodically post my Patronus gif.
Because sometimes I need it to defend me from the “your writing is trash” dementors in my head.
