I’ve adored much of this series so I was definitely looking forward to this.
Skylar is in long time love with her stepbrother’s best friend who doesn’t view her as anything other than his friend’s little sister.
Enter Robbie, one of the players (in more ways than one) from previous books in the series who wears the o donor shirt and is also a rookie hockey player.
Fake dating commences and in almost no time at all, Skylar stops thinking about anyone other than Robbie.
It’s instalove, and he falls first. She’s obsessed with planners, he’s obsessed with her.
Secondary characters felt thin in this one, and I really didn’t like how Robbie’s character evolution didn’t include an ephiphany on how to treat women other than Skylar.
I look forward to reading future books by Ms Bailey, but this one wasn’t for me.
Huh’s -
chap 18 - “citrine blue” but citrine is a yellow quartz
I’ve been interested in Sig and Chloe’s story since the first book of this series, and was so happy to get an advance copy and began reading once I got it; I wound up reading this over 3 days.
During reading:
This book, these characters… Tessa Bailey, did you decide to wreck us with the LONGING in this one? Because I’m 24% of the way in, and I’m already ¾ of the way to wrecked.
The we-can’t-be-together energy is seriously present here (although, I’ll be honest, I didn’t really get why they couldn’t be together).
Post reading:
Sig and Chloe are perfect together. Neither is perfect; Ms Bailey always really humanizes her characters and the result is always human characters with good sides and bad, but together they are.
I waited for this one, wanting to read it since readers were first introduced to these two characters in this trilogy? series? Anyway, I’d been looking forward to this one so much, and it didn’t disappoint.
Fun and recommended!
**also, maybe leaves the door open to a future title
The Au Pair Affair (Big Shots, #2) by Tessa Bailey

After adoring Fangirl Down, I requested The Au Pair Affair the moment I saw it listed on NetGalley. The powers that be at Avon deemed me worthy of the arc (thank you! ❤️) and I began this one eager to read what would happen next after their meeting at the end of Fangirl Down where he obviously falls in it at first sight.
.
I adored Tallulah - absolutely adored her. She’s strong, smart, and sensitve and a MFC that you’re rooting for.
.
Burgess was becoming wonderful, but then “Jesus, that’s a hot squeeze” made me cringe so so so badly. As did all of Burgess’s sex talk. All of it. Not to mention that he was a giant tool in the third act breakup (which I really dislike as a trope in general). These issues did detract from my enjoyment of this one.
.
I am definitely looking forward to reading Chloe and Sig’s story.
There’s something about a new Tessa Bailey book that I cannot resist. After receiving an early copy of this, I jumped in immediately (never mind the other books I have sitting on my TBR shelf). Spoiler - I finished it the same day.

A highly enjoyable romance with serious topics, I laughed out loud at several points during my reading. I'm not one for sports romances (especially golf - nooo) usually but if TB writes it, I'm reading it and I did enjoy my reading of this a lot.
.
Josephine was an excellent MFC, one you're consistently rooting for. Wells was grumpy and surly and gave me heavy duty Roy Kent-but-golf vibes. While there is character evolution for both, it feels a bit false since, unfortunately, we never really learn that much about either character. Though irksome (to me) in such an otherwise fantastic story, the story is still completely readable and enjoyable; I finished reading this wanting more from it.
.
Lots of romance disguised in bicker/banter, lots of open door spice, and a nice intro to the second story. Lots of fun to read, in short, and I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this duology.
June #bigshots tournament. Super Syd playing against the trees on the other team. #32 on the other team had about 12 blocks. She was tuff. Start of the 2nd half, down by 6, Syd scores 6 pts unanswered to tie the game. If she can consistently knock down that pull up #jumper, she's going to be trouble. #girlsbasketball #basketball #highschool #highschoolbasketball #freshmanyearloading #speed https://www.instagram.com/p/CRUWYINny4Z/?utm_medium=tumblr
