It had become increasingly rare for the Diamonds to see one another as the colonies grew, each had a plethora of responsibilities and while Blue was managing those duties well enough, it had left her with little opportunity to speak to the others. Loneliness and isolation only proved to make her melancholy worsen, lesser Gems rarely stayed in her presence for long and it wasn't as if she could tell them much of what she was thinking regardless.
Pearl was the only exception she had, the only Gem privy to everything she'd seen, to every conversation she'd had. It was with those thoughts alone that she'd decided to turn to the smaller Gem for discussion, it wasn't likely she'd take much of what Pearl said into real consideration but talking to another Gem was far better than talking only to herself.
