Stage 2: the mixed media part. After I get an encaustic background I’m going to be satisfied with, I layer in the mid and foreground portions that I do on paper by hand with ink, pencil and charcoal transfers. I do these in the last layers of the encaustic sky, which also pulls the sky up and over the landscape underneath for more of the 3D effect. .
