Man I love the Pokémon Special manga but I feel like the quality of it has declined like the Platinum, B2W2, XY, and now Sun and Moon are incredibly rushed. I miss where the protagonists still challenged the gyms (or trials for Sun and Moon) and there was a slower pace for the arcs instead of everything being crammed super fast. Do you agree or nah?
some of these arcs aren’t really that bad at all to be honest. Part of why the pacing has been so weird is because how and where the chapters are published has changed over the years. And as far as I know it’s still just mainly Kusaka and Yamamoto who work on the comic as a whole. Some arcs don’t seem too terribly affected by this change in pace and didn’t drop in quality imo (XY is a good example of this because it has a pretty engaging story, and while it doesn’t have the whole gym battling aspect at the center, the plot provided plenty of situations our heroes had to get out of.)But yeah there are some arcs that would benefit from more time (BW2!!! and also to a lesser extent Sun/Moon, but seeing as they’re trying to combine aspects of USUM into the plot, I guess I can let it slide.)One thing that I think definitely contributes to the rushed-ness of the arcs is the increasingly small amount of time between generations, and even games within generations. Before most generations would enjoy maybe 4 or 5 years between each other. With games coming out as fast as they are, I believe they loose the leisure of having enough time to combine main aspects of the core games while allowing their story to progress differently. That is what I think at least.And I should really get around to making introspection posts or something. As I promised.
