I think Clay is a guy that was given a lot of independence as a kid, and his only real connection to his parents was via academia and achievements through schooling. I think he’s an only child, and had a bit of a crisis about doing what he wanted to do vs his parents expectations of him, which led to his drug use!
He smokes weed so he can be deliriously high so he doesn’t have to think about the future, or expectations put upon him, just good vibes and a fun time - as he didn’t have that as a kid.
I also think that’s why he’s not really coupled up with anyone - he has a hard enough time being himself!
Hi!!!! I watched grave encounters 2 recently… what are some of your options on Alex?? Like his relationship with Jennifer and his ego…

It’s like you’re in my BRAIN I recently rewatched Grave Encounters 2 so I’m basically in my Alex Wright era once again (watch this space for some art I’m making hehe)
SO my overall thoughts on Alex - he’s 100% the worst guy in the world to be in a conversation with; I know he’s smug, he’s conceited and he just thinks he’s better than everyone else, and thinks he knows more than anyone else. This of course can be seen in a good way; passionate, dedicated, smart. But also - stubborn, tunnel visioned and narcissistic. (I don’t think this is a bad thing, he’s a top 5 Harmon character of mine for a reason, I love a flawed protagonist)
There are several parts in the film where I think they show you Alex’s flaws rather than tell you - my favourite being the cuts to some of his film during the opening - people say it’s cliche, compare it to SAW - and it is. It is cliche. He is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is - like he’s fine, and I think that’s what drives his ego mostly. He knows, deep down, he’s just fine as a film maker.
When the ending happens, and he’s told that whoever finishes the movie needs to escape, I think his ego misinterprets this as “I have been chosen” - re-enforced by the YouTube comments and videos - when it actually means “whoever finishes it can leave so I can manipulate via a new vessel” - I don’t think Alex has stopped for a moment to think “hold up, I’m being manipulated” he’s blinded by “I’m going to make this into a film, I’m going to be the best film maker ever”
In terms of his relationship with Jennifer; I don’t really think much of it - like to me it seems like she’s a lot more into him than he is into her - but I think that’s just the way the film uses the degradation of their relationship as a way to show his overwhelming obsession with Grave Encounters, and overall, how nothing means more to him than being a famous movie director!
Overall I give him 4 skulls out of 4 x

i think the theme with biografts is less about protectiveness and more about. being tools. which is a given. i don't think it means much that most of them take on a role that includes protecting something or someone, because that seems pretty typical for robots stronger than inphernals
