The Chinese merganser is a migratory bird that breeds in the north and winters in the south. The adult males and females are very different in their feather colors. The males often have black feathers on their heads and backs while the females have brownish-yellow heads and are grey on their backs. They always nest in tree holes and typically seven or eight ducklings are hatched at a time, but an experienced mother could snatch ducklings from other clutches to be her own. That's why sometimes a female merganser is followed by dozens of ducklings, which makes quite a scene. #COP15 #Biodiversity2022 United Nations Biodiversity https://www.instagram.com/p/CmDdybJPlsz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
