Beware the Latest Pseudo-Science
Earlier this month the American College of Pediatricians released a position statement claiming to have "reviewed over 60 studies and concluded that social transition, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones have no demonstrable, long-term benefit on psychosocial well-being of adolescents with gender dysphoria". Expect to see the usual suspects citing this immediately.
The thing is, ACP isn't a real, professional organization, and the "statement" is in no way a research paper. ACP was founded about 20 years ago (in Florida) to platform Reich wingers who probably did their medical residencies in concentration camps (rather like William B. Fuckley founded Nazi Review to platform all his segregationist buddies at Yale). ACP has about 700 members (as opposed to the real organization, the American Academy of Pediatrics, which has about 67,000) and no actual research department. What it does have is the new website Biological Integrity, which is nothing but hate propaganda dressed up to look legit.
