If you live in the US, please don't use money apps instead of a bank or credit union!

Banks are insured (FDIC) - if they go out of business they are insured, so account holders get their money back; credit unions have similar protections.

PayPal, for example, *does not*. They can close or freeze your account and you have no recourse.

Cash App, Venmo, things like that allow you to maintain a balance, but they are not banks and you are not protected.
