If life had a save point /
Where would your marker be? /
A place where you can go back / try again /
With all the lessons you have learned /
Perhaps the first time you scraped your knee /
Becoming aware of physical pain / but now you know what knee-pads are /
Maybe right before your first rejection / to try again and again /
Learn the right words to say / to avoid that crushing feeling in your chest /
A save could be the first time you fell in love /
To remember what those butterflies felt like /
Before the heartbreak sat in / a chance to try again /
Changing the trajectory of what may have been /
My save point seems to be ever-changing /
I never know which moment / is the right moment /
The moment where everything could change /
It most likely won't / most of what I’ve known is pain /
Suppose I went back / stayed home instead of going to his house /
Would I be any different if that event never took place? /
I could go back to when I first learned the word no /
Stand in it stronger / repeat it until it has power /
Make it a complete sentence / I could save before I gave up /
Sitting on my bathroom floor begging for peace /
I think that was my save point / after all, I’m still alive /
On a different timeline / I’m no longer here /
I lost the battle with my mind / I never left that bathroom /
Yet something told me to stop / saved me from that end /
Maybe present me / picked a save point after all
