“Tiny Devil” by #SarahReneKraft @sketchykraft⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2018 • 2”x3” • Mixed-Media.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ——————————————————⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whether spiritual or psychological, shadow work is often used to explain the process of delving within the feared or undesired aspects of the self in order to seek out our root traumas and, like following a thread through a labyrinth, identify our core needs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While I have to admit, I’m not a fan of Jung (for various reasons), the metaphors for shadow work definitely resonate.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lately, I’ve found myself confronting many aspects of myself that I have been aware of and yet simultaneously blinded to. I think sometimes we can be aware of our traumas and behaviors and yet unaware of how those traumas and behaviors manifest as unconscious beliefs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While we can identify the hurt and confront our accountability, it seems to me it’s even harder to face what our experiences, triggers, and behaviors cause us to believe of our external selves.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Are others really projecting a mask upon us? Or are we projecting that others are projecting this perception upon us?
