i’m watching the amazing spider-man for the first time and i had two thoughts:

there’s just something so fun about ethan and reader getting together when her dad is the dewey riley, a cop who joined the spider-man task force shortly after the hero made his debut, and gale weathers, the reporter infamous for her investigative journalism and absolutely obsessed with discovering the superhero’s identity, even if it does more harm than good

and also the thought of the classic miscommunication trope with ethan during ffh era and he’s trying all these different things to tell reader he wants to try again and get back together but reader just thinks he’s having a hard time revealing his secret to her after figuring out that it could have been a reason as to why they broke up in the first place

cue awkward fluff !!!

lmk if i’m ever bothering you btw i just LOOOVE talking about this and i need to get the thoughts out before the serious no way home stuff starts, lore building and whatnot

i’m so glad you love the au omg 🥺 because imagine the angst of reader and anika’s minds getting wiped and having to say goodbye to ethan when reader barely got him back (the lore here is they were together pre-spider-man events, broke up when he became spider man so he could protect reader which set off homecoming events, and got back together during far from home bc i’m a whore for exes to lovers) but also the fluff of ethan coming back into reader’s life completely accidentally as spider-man first and foremost?? with pining ethan?? SIGN ME UP.

YESSS SPIDER-MAN ETHAN AU!!! the logistics aren’t completely there yet but bare with me —

the spider-mans would be sidney, tara, and ethan!

sidney’s villains would be billy, roman, and jill

tara’s villain would be amber. she’d fail to save sam, but chad is the inevitable mary jane to her peter parker

and ethan’s universe obviously got more worldbuilding but basically anika is his ned, gale weathers is his j jonah jameson, and his mj is a riley-weathers! reader (bc i love angst). richie died in place of uncle ben which sent their father (detective bailey) to the brink of insanity so he’d become green goblin adjacent, which left quinn as his closest family member, his aunt may (and yes, she dies too)

that’s all i have for now along with the vague idea of how the lore will go but it makes me buzz and i could talk about it forever if someone would let me, but i think i’m gonna marathon the movies first to gather some inspo since this is all super duper rough
